Antoinette Cook, Radio Personality and Entertainment Executive, WVSR-AM Philadelphia

Antoinette Cook, Radio Personality and Entertainment Executive, WVSR-AM Philadelphia

Antoinette "Tony," "AC," Cook, Radio Personality & Entertainment Exec.

Antoinette “Tony,” “ AC,” Cook started out years ago as a teen watching a dance TV show called ‘Dancing On Air’ which the show was on the air weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Channel 17 in Philadelphia, PA. Tony had a love for entertainment. Tony said to herself, thinking about a television and radio career, that she would be on that dance show one day. It didn’t take long for Antoinette to make it to the big time on television. Cook entered a contest to appear as a dancer on the show and won.

The very first time AC, a.k.a. Antoinette Cook had appeared on the Dancing On Air Iconic show the producers of the show loved the energy that she bought to the show. This lead to the producers asking Cook to come back as a regular dance fixture. Agreeing to do the show each week Dancing On Air helped change Cook’s life for a positive beginning in the entertainment business. Back then Michael Jackson was it that launched Tony’s career as a very young producer of a major television show.

Since the Dancing On Air show regularly featured Michael Jackson Tony really got started in the entertainment industry as a personality and spokesperson. Quickly Antoinette stared working with professional star impersonators and traveled around the U.S. as an administrator for talents that looked like Michael Jackson and other popular
R & B singers.

During the middle 90’s Cook began to Co-host a radio show called Van Stone’s Digest at a local Philadelphia Education radio station. The call letters WPEB-FM 88.1. was a household name to most. Tony participated in records, CD, and tape rotation for the station and also helped to produce talk radio where guest involved in the professional industry of entertainment visited the show. Also, Cook work as a part time Weather Radio Personality letting listeners know about the forecast and at times traffic conditions too. Tony helped to prepare a teen summit showcase, on WPEB and worked with group artist such as The Jacksons when they visited Philly on tour. Assisting back stage Michael Jackson Tito Jackson, Janet Jackson, and also the Victory Tour was Cook’s job as a specialist. In 1984 Weldon McDougal, III, who in the past worked for Motown Records was just one of the mentors that Tony had later in her career as a communications director for her own company.

AC also worked with radio and television personalities employed at WDAS-FM 105.3 like Diane Brown and the late great Georgie Woods. Today, as an Executive with WVSR-AM, Tony oversees promotional affairs for artist like public enemy, L.L. Cool J, Cameo, New Edition, Chubb Rock, and old-school-artist that are still in the performance business. She helps as a promoter dealing with events held at The Philadelphia Dell East and Co-host WVSR1360.1 AM Radio Station shows called Blend Talk Radio and The Thoughts of Black Teens, and the Thoughts of Black Men Conference Call.

Tony Cook is available weekdays via the Internet when visiting www.wvsr1360.com and www.frontpagenews.us Philadelphia’s lead online newspaper the Philadelphia Front Page News. Cook publishes articles in the Philadelphia Front Page News as a columnist and is often featured in stories dealing with community education in the SCOOP U.S.A., www.scoopusanewspaper.com -Antoinette Cook looks forward to bringing radio broadcast listeners a quality show on WVSR1360.1 AM..
