Pa. Sentence Reforms for Nonviolent Crimes Near Passage
A package of bills that would overhaul sentencing procedures for nonviolent criminals is poised to get final approval from the Pennsylvania legislature next week.
The legislation passed by the state senate includes a bill that would require prisoners convicted of more serious crimes to serve their time in state facilities, rather than county jails.
Nonviolent offenders, meanwhile, would be paroled more quickly for good behavior and would have more access to addiction treatment programs.
