Phillies Fans Look Ahead to World Series
Pennsylvania’s number one sports fan and sports analyst says it’s hard to handicap the Phillies’ chances in the World Series, given that the American League opponent has not yet been determined.
Still, governor Ed Rendell (in file photo at right) says he thinks a parade down Broad Street may be in the offing.
As of Thursday, Tampa Bay was leading Boston three games to one, and clobbered the Red Sox 13-4 in game four on Tuesday. The governor says that yes, the Rays are on a roll:
“…but the way the Phillies are playing right now, it’s hard to think that they can be stopped.”
Rendell says the Phillies have a combination of pitching and hitting that will be tough to beat.
And noting that Ryan Howard’s bat came alive in the NLCS clincher, the governor says that if the slugger explodes, it could be a short World Series.
Bottom line from the guv:
“[I] think were going to see a parade down Broad Street after all.”
