Robbie and Smith Talk Soldiers & Green Energy; Today’s Child Learning Centers by Van Stone vspfoundation@yahoo.com (610) 931-8810

Above: Van Stone's Roger Robbie®, the Lovable Raccoon will support the U.S. soldiers
and
family members, all veterans, spouses of veterans and their children, and military personnel who believe in 'the way of the U.S. Soldier.' Local Law Enforcement such as city police and the National Guard will also be supported as champions. Children and Adults who are at learning centers will enjoy Roger Robbie and friends. Linda Smith, a U.S. Army soldier in Utah, will work with kids so that they can get Roger Robbie Values Posters. The posters are all about Green Energy and Greening tips and how soldiers can help change the environment.

Linda Smith, who is U.S. soldier personnel in Utah, and Roger Robbie, my loveable raccoon action character have embarked on a nationwide effort to show how soldiers reduce the effect “carbon” has on the environment and how soldiers use fossil fuels.

Smith, who likes to work with students, will do blog reporting for the Philadelphia Front Page News, (www.frontpagenews.us) so that young Philadelphians here may understand the different kinds of emission installations there are in the military. Emissions include water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone, and other carbons.

Roger Robbie will be a visual aid builder helping kids to see how buildings, on-post generators, tactical vehicles including tanks and helicopters, and non-tactical vehicles, including privately owned vehicles and government vehicles are included in the scope.

Smith will explore what the correlation is and how we can achieve reduction of greenhouse gases through implementation of a citywide energy program.

Reduction in energy use and subsequent reduction in greenhouse gases come from finding new origins of energy and also by reducing the energy the soldiers use through performance. At Fort Carson, for instance, the Army partnered with a local energy provider to do an enhanced-use lease there. Children learning about solar energy from Smith and Roger Robbie will be a visible way they can address looking at more renewable sources of energy which do not produce greenhouse gases.

Speaking of kids, they need strong and fun learning places. Today’s Child Learning Centers, Inc. is a privately owned provider of early childhood education in Delaware County. In operation since 1989, it provides school age enrichment programs in the K-Center and four elementary schools in the Southeast Delco School District. It’s Preschool and Pre-K educational programs as well as Kindergarten and School Age Enrichment Programs at Aston Elementary are led by Alice Peterson, educator and Roxanne Lucianetti, also an educator.

Today’s Child also provides before and after care in partnership with the Delaware County Intermediate Unit’s Southeast Regional Head Start Center in Sharon Hill. Word is that Today’s Child was singled out in 1998 by then-Governor Ridge to help kick off his successful “Read to Succeed” literacy program. Peterson and Lucianetti took the lead in spreading the understanding that learning is an important part of childhood.

Their schools offer what’s called the CyberStart Program, an educational program for preschoolers, which introduces them to technology. And, of course, there’s more learning today than ever. “Pre-K Counts” is a pilot program that Peterson is proud to oversee there.

Discover Today’s Child as it often provides some free high quality education for three and four year olds in the State of Pennsylvania. Members of Peterson’s organization have also helped to plan The School age Care Alliance's National Convention. The convention was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Peterson’s and Lucianetti’s goal is success of the family and in turn the success of the communities they serve. Delaware County or Philly County residents can give em a call at (610) 583-2273 to become an active participant in the Today’s Child programs.
