Phila. Council Members Propose Tax Alternates
A tax on some tobacco products and a plan to boost taxes on big businesses are two of the latest proposals floating around City Hall in Philadelphia's effort to get a balanced budget.
City Councilman Darrell Clarke is proposing a tax on chewing tobacco, pipe tobacco, cigars and rolling paper to bring in an extra $6 millions. He says it could be part of the solution to the deficit:
"A small part, but a part."
